A week ago I visited my mentor and he asked me how things were going, I told him I was quitting as I was not making an impact.
He looks at my very confuse and said, Sky you have been doing this for only 2 months.
Then he started telling me that life is a race, but most of us concentrate on the finish line and do not enjoy the race.
His example was simple: Letβs say you are going to Disneyland, you get into the car full of excitement and expectation of what will happen when you get there, you ask every 15 minutes, are we there yet? are we there yet? are we there yet?
Then you stop to take a break and you are ready to turn back and go home as it’s been 4 hours and you are not there yet but the trip alone takes 18 hours.
Instead of enjoying the trip, looking around, finding interesting places to stop and amazing people to meet, you get obsessed with getting there NOW and you forget is a journey .. and the journey itself will help you grow along the way.
You find joy in what you do NOW, as you serve the people around you and you give it all. Live the moment and dream about the future.
But never, never forget life is a journey, and you need to remember to stop and smell the roses, cause while you stop you can happen to meet other amazing people even when you are not at your destination yet.
Stay in the journey to fill fulfilled, to feel in love to feel joy and peace. Do not just think about the finish line and forget there is a path to get there.
